Just about everyone knows about auto donation, but charity work in DC has expanded to embrace a great deal more than that. In 2008, Goodwill Industries chapters throughout Washington partnered with the Dell computer company to establish what they anticipated would be a worthwhile and useful program. That program tried to give the public another route for disposing of their redundant computers, and it placed most of its effort on educating people about beneficial environmental changes. This program aspired to add to the already expanding car  donation program headed by Goodwill Industries and additionally get people used to donating their old products.

After some months of success in the introduction  of the joint venture, it seems that computer users all over the DC area are making full use of the opportunity. Vehicle donation has for a long time been a main cause for each and every one of the Goodwill chapters in the United States, but the team in DC are seeking to do more for the community than just that. Through this program, computers are being recycled if that is practicable, and they re being discarded in a responsible if they cannot be reused. This has been helpful in fixing a serious problem that was facing the community, with possibly harmful computers and potentially useful computers being  thrown out in ways that just didn t work.

While Dell has lent its help in a number of ways, the staff at Goodwill Industries have been mainly in charge of retrieving and re-marketing the computers all over the DC area. Through their car donation program, money has been raised for many different uses. This program is rather different from car  donation, though, as it seeks to provide technology to clients all over Washington. Those who might not have been able to access technology and information before are now able to learn how to use a computer.

This is again another example of the growing position and influence of Goodwill Industries in assisting the Washington metro community. Vehicle  donation was the starting point, and still is one of their chief priorities, but novel programs like this one have become established, as well.
